  1. Vision and Values
  2. Our Vision and Values

Our Vision

Our vision is that we are all able to Let Our Light Shine. This is a key message from Matthew 5:14-16. It combines the message of, ‘You are the light of the world’ and ‘let your light shine.’ We are clear about our mission: lighting up lives so that we may each shine brightly.

At the heart of everything we do here at Broseley C of E Primary School is a personalised approach to each unique individual as part of our Christian community.  Our ethos ensures that all children and staff feel valued, respected and grow in self-confidence. Enthusiastic and caring staff with high expectations, demonstrate care of the whole child. Through God’s guidance we encourage each and every child to let their light shine.

During the Sermon on the Mount, found in the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus addresses a crowd and reveals eight blessings (known as The Beatitudes) and said, ‘You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one, after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.’
Matthew 5:14-16

As a Christian school family, we seek to follow the example of Jesus in all that we do. Our actions allow us to let our light shine. Our actions allow us to share the light of Jesus with those around us.

Our Values

At Broseley C of E Primary School we believe that every child and adult can shine and that this can be for the benefit of all. We recognise that we are all special in God’s eyes and have unique talents, which we nurture so that each of us has the opportunity to become the very best person that God intended us to be. We want to see everyone being inspired and growing in wisdom and knowledge. We want to see children flourishing and excelling in everything that they do through providing rich experiences which give everyone the opportunity to achieve more than they ever thought possible. We want to encourage our children to aspire to great things and for the light of their lives to shine and make a difference in their classrooms, throughout the school and when they return home and into their community. As we all demonstrate our core Christian values of love, hope, trust and perseverance, in a supportive atmosphere of mutual respect and trust, our hope is that light will shine from Broseley C of E in many ways, every day - for the benefit of all and for the glory of God.  We learn about our values during worship, class time, playtime and with our friends, teachers and families.

Love: We want everyone in our community to know that they are loved by us, by God, and to learn to love too. We aim to provide a safe and loving space for all.

Hope: Because God loves us and gives us hope, we have hope for ourselves and others. We can all flourish together.

Trust: Trust is the glue that holds our relationships together. We reflect upon why trust is so crucial in building relationships and what the consequences might be when it is broken.

Perseverance: We encourage one another to strive to do what is right and not to give up, as Jesus taught us. We acknowledge difficult times, showing grace to one another and to ourselves as we learn from mistakes and shine more brightly.

Valuing Ourselves

We believe that developing a sense of self-worth is of paramount importance. When he was on earth, Jesus once said: ‘I am the light of the world’ (John 8:12). However, as he spoke to those around him during the Sermon on the Mount, he also used these words: ‘You are the light of the world’. In addition to letting their light shine on others, we want our children to recognise the value of their own light: to be proud of their personal achievements; to value and respect themselves; and to know how loved they are both by God and by others. We aim to develop a Growth Mindset so that the members of our school are able to face the future with hope and aspiration and embrace all that life has to offer.

At Broseley C of E Primary we aim to give children an education they will never forget, rich with diverse opportunities and experiences set within a Christian context. We are very proud of our school and its community ethos. The Church school values we teach the children are the foundation of our school, taught through making links to Bible stories and Christian values, enabling our children to make positive choices and decisions, both in and out of school. Our strong inclusive ethos places children at the heart, enabling them to make an outstanding contribution to the school and local community.
